Ritto City
Overview of Ritto City
Ritto City is famous as the city for creating the first training center of the Japan Racing Association. At once prospering as a key point of transportation and also blessed with an abundance of forest resources, it has formed into a city known as "the town of greenery and culture". In the north there are flatlands, and historical relics remain around the city and along the former Tokaido and Nakasendo roads, such as temples, shrines, groupings of burial mounds, and more. The Konze area in the south houses the Omi-Konan Alps, selected as one of the Hundred Healing Forests of Japan, and every year many hikers bustle about. Please enjoy Ritto!

As the first kanji in Ritto means chestnut ("kuri" in Japanese), Kuri-chan's motif is chestnuts, and he promotes the city's image and handles PR. He's around the city, but he also visits other prefectures too, so if you spot him, come say hi!
