SaijoSakaguraDori
Thriving as a stopover since the Edo Period, hundreds of years of history in the beautiful townscape
From just outside the exit of JRSaijoStation, SaijoSakaguraDori (lit. West Brewery St.) stretches from east to west. An important point on the Saigoku-kaido Road of old, it was a town for stopping over. Bountifully unique buildings including breweries along this street sculpt the view. One can also see Western-style architecture from the Meiji Period through the Taisho Period.

Go tasting at 7 sake breweries. Each brewery offers the same water used for brewing as a chaser.
There are 7 breweries along SaijoSakaguraDori. Sake brewed in Hiroshima is called onna-zake, sake made from soft water (lit. "feminine sake"), and a smoothness and richness in taste are its characteristics. There are refreshing and dryer sake as well, so be sure to hit each of the breweries to compare their tastes.
▲Shusenkan Sake Museum (Kamoizumi Brewery)
▲The Ochaya (headquarters) site
Sightseeing spots and shops dotted along.Plenty of places to stop by.
At each brewery, precious documents and designs which pass forward their legacies can be viewed.
Also, restaurants where the local specialty bishunabe(lit. beautiful sake hot-pot) can be eaten, and shops where sake candies and sake-related souvenirs can be bought are some other enjoyable things.
